Let’s talk love triangles… author Rebecca Serle dishes on her top favorites in pop culture and how they all led her to Famous In Love in today’s NOVL guest post.
About the Book: When seventeen-year-old Paige Townsen gets plucked from obscurity to star in the movie adaptation of a blockbuster book series, her life changes practically overnight. Within a month, Paige has traded the quiet streets of her hometown for a bustling movie set on the shores of Maui, and she is spending quality time with her costar Rainer Devon, one of People’s Sexiest Men Alive. But when troubled star Jordan Wilder lands the role of the other point in the movie’s famous love triangle, Paige’s crazy new life begins to resemble her character’s. In this coming-of-age romance inspired by the kind of celeb hookups that get clever nicknames and a million page views, Paige must figure out who she is — and who she wants — while the whole world watches.
My Top Five Favorite Love Triangles by Rebecca Serle
You know the deal. Love triangles have existed since the beginning of time. Think Juliet was alone in her affections for Romeo? Think again. I wrote a whole book on Rosaline’s love—but I digress, we’re here to talk about a different novel.
Famous in Love pulls greatly from my favorite love triangles. I mean, think of all the swoony scenes I got to watch as “research!” Below I’m listing my top 5. There are more, trust me. But these are the ones that really matter.
5) Max-Liz-Tess (Roswell)
Oh, WB. How I miss you. Remember Roswell? It was a little known show about Aliens in love with humans. Specifically, Max and Liz and their epic quest to get some alone time—made all the more complicated by the alien, Tess, carrying his baby. Sophomore probs, you know?
4) Clary-Jace-Simon (The Mortal Instruments)
I’ll admit there isn’t much contest here. Team Jace, am I right? But still, the whole brother-sister thing did throw a damper on the romance—and Simon was there to swoop right in!
3) Stefan-Elena-Damon (The Vampire Diaries)
I blog about TVD for New York Magazine and every week we duke it out—Stefan, or Damon? I am Team Stefan—hard. Paul Wesley just does it for me. But these days I’m more Steroline than Stelena…
2) Edward-Bella- Jacob (Twilight)
Pretty sure if you look up “love triangle” in the dictionary, this is what you get. The pinnacle. Enough said.
1) Dawson-Pacey-Joey (Dawson’s Creek)
It may have been Dawson’s Creek, but it was Pacey’s world. Who could forget the heart-thudding finale (who would Joey choose?!) Joshua Jackson was mine and every other teen girl’s boyfriend. And I don’t care what anyone says—- he and Joey lived happily ever after.
Famous In Love is out today—Happy Book Birthday Rebecca! Grab a copy and fall in love with both of the guys like we did. Team Rainer? Team Jordan? We can’t wait to see who you’ll be backing.
